Whenever someone close to us transitions from their Earthly life to our Eternal Home, we feel pain that is beyond words to describe. Reality as we know it on Earth completely vanishes and everything seems unreal. Time stands still in that moment. Many of us have been there and if you have, you know what I am talking about. But have you ever wondered where that pain comes from? Why is it more than just an emotion? Why does it go so deep it touches our soul? Is it simply because we miss our loved ones with us, their faces, their hugs, their smiles, their smell, their touch, their humor, their laughter? Yes, these are all aspects we miss dearly and when reality sinks in that these are the things that are now not present for us, it can leave us with a feeling of complete emptiness. But what if there is an even deeper level to this? Once we move through the pain and give ourselves permission to fall into the pain, let it be, once we have the vision to see beyond the loved one who has transitioned...is there something else we can then finally see? Can we recognize that deep within is a pain that has been there even before our loved one has moved on? What if this timeless feeling, this feeling that everything is unreal, the sense of nothingness has always been part of us, hidden deep within? What if it was always there but is only revealed to us when we feel a sense of loss? Maybe we always have the opportunity to have a closer look at that far away spot deep inside of us but we choose to not see it and keep ourselves busy so we do not have to look at it. Perhaps any type of loss will open that curtain for us for just a moment. Whether we like it or not, the curtain opens and we see what lies beyond. Now we have a choice. We can choose to give it some time and then close that curtain again and never look at it again, unless of course, life just opens up that curtain for us again...Or we choose to look. What would we see if we look behind the curtain into that empty space that can kick us off balance if we let it? What is it that lies deep within, so deep in some of us that we may never feel it unless circumstances in life open the curtain for us? Whenever you are ready to have more than a peak and really look, you might be surprised that it is not pain you are looking at. You might feel a deep sense of home and belonging. Right there, in the middle of your heart, your soul, your Self, you will recognize your home. You can call this God, Spirit, Consciousness, Divine, Holy Spirit or whatever it is you choose to call it. The name is not what you see, it is the energy coming from your Source that is the imprint of your soul. It is the blueprint of our existence. It is the place where we feel most comfortable and can be our true Self without any of our Earthly masks we wear. We can simply Be. You are accepted just the way you are. You are loved unconditionally just the way you are. This is what home feels like. It is pure love. Love for ourselves and for everyone in our life. It is a love that connects us all. So does that answer the question where this pain comes from when someone close to us transitions? Perhaps the pain we experience is the subconscious realization of our home and what we feel is a deep sense of being homesick. All our lives we are looking for that unconditional love, for safety, regardless of our background. We all want in on it. We try to find it or build it ourselves externally. We look for love, have a family, create our own version of a home so that we can finally feel like we belong. So naturally, when someone within our close circle is moving on, we feel off balance and loss. But every now and then life sends a reminder our way to tell us, “Yes you are loved. You are loved more than you realize and that Love lies within you. It is always there. You don’t need to go far to find it but you do need to go open up that curtain”.
